EMMA SHEENS, widow of the late Henry Sheens, and one of the oldest residents of Castlereagh, passed away on December 26 at the age of' 77 years. Born at Mt. Pleasant, near Castlereagh, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Byrnes, and spent the whole of her life in the district. She reared a large family of 13 children, four of whom predeceased her. Those living are: George (Penrith), Peter (Castlereagh), Arthur (Emu Plains), Allen (Penrith), James, Fred and Robert (Castlereagh), Mrs. G. Willett (Lambridge), and Mrs. Major Stanton (Sydney). There are 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The funeral took place on December 27, the remains being interred in the Methodist cemetery, Castlereagh. Rev. W. T. Stuart-Wright officiated at the graveside.30 |
