Obituary*11 September 1897 "The Nepean Times", Penrith, NSW;
Miss Purcell, oldest daughter of the late Mr John Purcell, died at her residence, Castlereagh, after a brief illness. Miss Purcell was of i» reserved disposition, and was one of those who attended, most assiduously to her household and religious duties. Those, however, who did know her all speak in the highest praise of her estimable character. Some few months ago she had an attack of influenza, but appeared to get over the attack. Later on, however, she contracted a fresh cold, which settled on her lungs; she gradually grew worsen and her end was peaceful. The funeral on Sunday last, which Mrs Price (through her Manager, Mr W Fragar) had charge of, was a very representative one and the attendance large. Her remains were interred in the Cranebrook R.C. Cemetery, Rev J Sheridan officiating at the grave.5
