OBITUARY.
MR. G. SMITH.
An old and highly esteemed resident
of the district in the person of Mr.
George Smith passed away in the
Moree District Hospital last night.
The deceased, who was 89 years of
age, was born at Seaham. He followed
the occupation of a shearer, and general
laborer, and first passed through the
district 73 years ago. Later he returned,
and had been a resident for over half
a century.
He is survived by six sons and eight
daughters, his wife having predeceased
him some years ago. The sons are
Messrs. Walter John Smith (New-
castle), Daniel George Smith (Sydney),
Jeffery Leonard Smith (Moree),
Thomas Rolland Smith (Gunnedah),
Cyril Norman Smith (Moree), and
Colin W. H. Smith (Moree), and the
daughters Mesdames W. Mace (Rock-
hampton), Harry Mace (Goondiwindi),
J. Daley (Biniguy), A. Coppock
(Moree), W. — . Reynolds (Moree), D.
McKenzie (Goondiwindi), J. Connelly
(Newcastle), W. Williams (Moree).
The funeral took place this morning,
the remains being interred in the
Church of England portion of the
cemetery. Ven. Archdeacon Border
officiating at the services at the church
and graveside.31
