| Will* | 29 August 1818 | Lighthorne, Warwickshire, England; In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Mann the elder of Lighthorne in the County of Warwick Yeoman being sick and weak in body but of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding praised by Almighty God for the same do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say first I will and direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses shall be fully paid and satisfied and after payment thereof I give and bequeath unto my daughters Jane Sabin Ruth Court and Maria Wright the sum of one guinea a piece and direct the same to be paid to them by my Executors hereinafter named in one month after my decease and as to all the rest residue and remainder of my real and personal estates whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature or kind [illegible] soever which I am possessed of or in wise interested in or entitled unto I give devise and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto and to be equally divided between my Sons James Mann and Charles Mann their heirs executors admons and assigns share and share alike as tenants in common and not as joint tenants and I do hereby make nominate constitute and appoint my said Sons James Mann and Charles Mann joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all former and other Will and Wills by me at any time heretofore make and declaring this only to be my last Will and Testament written and contained on one sheet of paper of my hand and seal the twenty ninth day of August in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety eight [sic] Thomas Mann Signed sealed published and declared by the above named in Testator Thomas Mann the elder as and for his last Will and testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as Witnesses thereto Joseph Lattimer Thomas Ivins J Loveday Proved at London 12th June 1823 before the Judge by the Oaths of James Mann and Charles Mann the Sons the Executors to whom Admon was granted having been first sworn by Comon [sic] duly to Administrator Note: will was transcribed as being made in 1898 but clearly this is incorrect as the will was proved in 1823 and probably after 1815 as there is no mention of his son Thomas who dies in 1815. 4 |
