Thanks for the suggestions. Part of the point of this post was to get people to try new things! I included Skype because so many people use it to talk to family in England and elsewhere. I included YouTube because I think it deserves to be known for holding more interesting material than the ads and silly stuff we usually hear about.

GenealogyWise is a good idea and I have included it in my new book, Social Media for Family Historians. I was trying to include sites that are not designed strictly for family historians, although I did include the FamilySearch Wiki, which not many people know about. I also purposely didn't include third-party tools like Tweetdeck, which I do use.

Great list -- I use many of these on a daily basis too.

I'd be inclined to add GenealogyWise, http://www.genealogywise.com, based on the ning platform and Tweetdeck, http://www.tweetdeck.com/, that allows one to read all ones Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, Foursquare, Google Buzz messages on one page.

I guess that if I had to stick to ten sites I'd delete Skype or Youtube that I don't use so regularly.

It would be good to hear what ten choices other genealogists might suggest.
