OBITUARY.
An old Hawkesbury identity, Mrs. John Attewell, passed away at Dulwich Hill on Tuesday. The deceased lady was the mother of the late Mr. Matthew Herps, and of Messrs. John Herps, J.P., and Thomas Herps, who are among the most respected residents of Lower Portland. These three sons were the whole of her family. Born at Leet's Vale, her maiden name was Miss Mary Chaseling, daughter of the late Mr. John Chaseling, and married the late Mr. John Herps, who died many years ago. She subsequently married Mr. John Attewell. Deceased was in her 88th year, and died after a fortnight's illness. The late Mrs. Attewell will be remembered among the older generations of the Hawkesbury River, and was much beloved when she resided here. Her eldest son, Mr. John Herps, J.P., was with her when she died, and the youngest son, Mr. Thomas Herps, went down to the funeral, which took place in the Methodist portion of the Rookwood cemetery yesterday, Besides her two surviving sons, there are many grandchildren, and about 10 great grandchildren.;Principal=Mary Chaseling12

OBITUARY.
One of the best known and most highlyrespected residents of the Hawkesbury River district, Mr. John Joshua Herps,passed away at Lower Portland early on Monday morning at the age of 73 years.The late Mr. Herps carried on farming andorchard pursuits for many years at LowerPortland, and was a man of kindly disposition and genial nature. For some timehe had suffered with an insidious growth,which was the primary cause of death. Hewas a son of the late John Brown Herps,and was born at Lower Portland, wherehe lived all his life. He married MissAgnes Chaseling at Shoalhaven, and theirfamily consisted of four daughters andthree sons, viz., Edith, Florence, Mabel,Grace, Benjamin, Fletcher and Hector. Thelate Mr. Herps took a prominent part in public matters, particularly in elections, and was a Justice of the Peace, a memberof the Nepean-Hawkesbury Pastures Protection Board, and a director and considerable shareholder in the old Hawkesbury Steam Navigation Company. He wasa prominent Methodist and a very worthy adherent of that Church. His remains werelaid to rest in the Methodist cemetery atSackville, Rev. J. Scharkie conducting theservice. Mr. Chandler, of Windsor, was theundertaker.

This is the last Will and Testament of me John Joshua Herps of Lower Portland in the State of New South Wales Farmer I appoint my Son son Benjamin Franklin Brown Herps and my Sin-in-law Thomas Henry Mitchell Executors of this my Will I give and devise all that my property situate at Lower Portland in the State of New South Wales where I now reside and known as "Mulgrave Place"' together with all other the real estate of which I shall die possessed unto my two sons Fletcher Livingstone Brown Herps and Hector Thomas Herps absolutely to be divided between them by my said Executors in the manner personally directed by me and pointed out to them but subject to the following conditions and charges namely that they the said devisees permit and suffer my wife Agnes herps to have the sole use and enjoyment of the house and conveniences where I now reside during the term of her natural life witthout impeachment of waste with a right to ingres egress and regress in and to the same and further that the said devisees oay unto my three daughters namely Mary Florence Kate Booth wife of William Booth of Homebush Mabel Agnes Somerville Mitchell wife of Owen Mitchell of Lower portland and Victoria Grace Mitchell wife of Thomas Henry mitchell the sum of two hundred pounds each within three years of the decease of my said wife to be paid by the said devisees equally between them And I charge the said land with the payment of the same And further that that the said devisees shall pay to my said wife their mother the sum of two pounds per week during her said life equally between them And I charge the said land with the payment of the same and authorise my said wife to distrain for the same when in arrear in a similar manner as Landlords are authorised so to under the Landlords and Tenants Act And I direct my said Executors on division being made of the said property between the said property between the said two devisees to provide and allow for a roadway seventeen and a half feet wide running from the Government Road along the river to the extreme rear of the property such roadway to follow and adjoin the fence dividing my said property from Nobles property and a former ditch Such roadway to be for the use of both of the said devisees and their representatives and assigns And I further will and direct that both the said devisees and their legal representatives and assigns shall have an equal right to the use of the wharf landing at the River and also a well now on the said property And it is my wish that both my said sons should immediately after my decease enter into possession of their respective properties so devised to them as aforesaid and work and cultivate the same and to continue to reside thereon during the lifetime of my said wife and subject to the payment thereout in the first place of all my just debts (but not including Mortgage debts which must be paid by the said Fletcher Livingstone Brown Herps and Hector Thomas Herps equally between them) funeral and testamentary expenses I give devise and bequeath all the monies personal Estate and effects of which I shall die possessed unto my said wife absolutely Lastly I revoke all former Wills In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this eighth day of November One thousand nine hundred and twenty two. 22nd March 1923. On this date Probate of the last Will and Testament of the above named John Joshua Herps late of Lower Portland in the State of New South Wales Farmer deceased, was granted in the Supreme Court of New South Wales in its Probate jurisdiction to Benjamin Franklin Brown Herps of Lower Portland in the State of New South Wales Orchardist and Thomas Henry Mitchell of Lower Portland in the State of New South Wales Farmer the Executors named in the said Will. Testator died at Lower Portland in the State of New South Wales on or about the 27th day of November 1922. Estate within the Jurisdiction of the Supreme Court of New South Wales sworn at £1137:15:0 Net.14
