Death of Father6 March 1915 Burilda Private Hospital, Summer Hill, NSW;
It is with very great regret that we have to chronicle the death of Mr Edward Herbert, of Fairfield, Eugowra, which sad event took place on Saturday, the 6th ult., at Burilda Private Hospital, Summer Hill. The deceased gentleman attained the age of 78 years, and was perhaps one of the oldest settlers in the district, having settled on the Lachlan 42 years ago. Until recent years, Mr Herbert had devoted himself extensively to the raising of fat cattle, the quality of which were known all over the country, Fairfield being one of the best fattening properties on the river. The remains were brought to Forbes by Monday morning's mail train, and were taken on to Fairfield, the funeral leaving there at about 1 o'clock, and was very largely attended. Over 40 vehicles, besides a number on horseback, followed to the Eugowra cemetery, where the last sad rites were performed by the Rev. A. J. Gardner of Forbes. The late Mr Herbert was a keen business man, and was highly respected in the district. Much sympathy is felt for his widow and family, of which there are 14, ten sons and four daughters, all of whom are grown up.;Principal=Edward Herbert3
Death*9 January 1938 Coonabarabran District, Coonabarabran, NSW;
Mr. Edward Albert Herbert, of Belmore Park, Baradine, was admitted to the Coonabarabran District Hospital on Sunday last, and died the same day from peritonitis. The deceased, who was a farmer, was 67 years of age, and worked Belmore Park in conjunction with his brother (Arthur) and son (Jack) for nearly 20 years. He is described by those intimately acquaintances with him as "one of the good old type." In his time he had travelled a great deal and in his migrations he was at Western Australia. He leaves a widow and two daughters (Mesdames J. Enwright and Mulligan) in addition to one son.4
