The death took place in Moree District Hospital on Christmas Eve about an hour after her admission following a stroke, of Mrs. Harriet Elizabeth Francis, aged 72 years. Born at Bingara, the deceased was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Matt. Gill. Her husband died some years ago, but three sons and three daughters survive. The sons are Messrs. Walter John and Jack Francis (Goondiwindi) and Alfred (Pallamallawa), while the daughters are Mesdames George Mace (Bendina Station, Queensland), George Smith (Moree) and Les. Benger (Pallamallawa). One son, Rupert, was killed in action in September, 1918.
The funeral took place on Christmas Day, interment being made in the Church of England portion of the Moree cemetery, Archdeacon Border officiating. Messrs. Logan and Co. had charge of the arrangements.6
