Article* | 19 December 1951 | "Windsor and Richmond Gazette", NSW; Fire Fighter Injured One of a Penrith group of volunteers who responded to an appeal to help fight a bush fire at Yarramundi on Sunday afternoon, Mr. Mervyn Connors (45), of Penrith, at about 6.25 p.m. was standing on a water truck moving from a place where the fire had been brought under control to a new position when the truck struck a bump and he was thrown on to the roadway. He sustained concussion and severe lacerations to the forehead, for which he was treated by the Hawkesbury Ambulance and conveyed to the District Hospital. Later in the evening he was taken by the Hawkesbury Ambulance to the Penrith Hospital, where he was admitted for further attention.11 |
