Mrs. Amanda Kelly
Another link with the early days of Forbes was severed last Monday, when the death took place, at her home on Quarry Hill Road, Forbes, of Mrs. Amanda Kelly, relict of the late Wm. Kelly, who was for 60 years an employee on "Carrawobitty" Station, and who passed away in December, 1938. About six months before that Mr. and Mrs. Kelly had celebrated their golden wedding with a big family re-union at "Carrawobitty."
The late Mrs. Kelly, who would have been 80 years of age in a week's time, was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Pierce Collits, and was born at "Bandon," Forbes, where her parents had property interests before removing to the Sand Hills where they resided for many years. Mrs. Kelly continued to live at "Carrawobitty" for some time after her husband's death at the age of 73, but about three years ago moved into town. She is survived by a family of three sons and two daughters, one son having passed away since his father died.
The funeral on Tuesday afternoon took place to the Catholic portion of the local cemetery, Rev. Father Bongiorno performing the last sad rites at the graveside, while Mr. A. G. Jones had charge of the obsequies.6
