Marriage* | 21 November 1883 | Residence of Samuel Byrnes, Penrith, NSW; TIT BITS. BY THE NOVICE. A correspondent sends me the following:-" A very large company assembled at Mr. Sam Byrne's house, on Wednesday the 21st. November, to celebrate the wedding of his eldest daughter Maria, who was mariahed that day, to Mr. E. Pullman. Sports were indulged in by both sexes, the ladies looked very nice indeed, at least Tom and George told me so. Dinner was served at 2 o'clock, under a large marque, erected in the field. There was dancing, twos and and threes I blush to say" kiss in the ring." George missed a chance and had to go into the middle of the ring till some one kissed him back to his place, he asked Tom to oblige him but his brother bachelor refused, and only for a young lady in blue tarletan obliging him, he would have been there now. I don't think Tom got a kiss all through, the bridegroom was the best off at the finish. After tea, the company adjourned to the house, and some songs and parlor games were indulged in. The two youngest Miss. McLachlan's sang 'Nelly Ray" very sweetly, as did Miss. Dolly Fisher " Under the Willow," George sang The Midshipmite," "I'm in Love," and " Be Kind to my Mother when I'm Gone," Tom sang a solo but it was so low that no one heard it. The company broke up at 11.30 p.m. A very happy day was spent.";Principal=Edward John Pullman3 |
