| Obituary* | 24 December 1942 | "The Nepean Times", Penrith, NSW; Obituary MR. ROBERT SHEENS After taking suddenly ill on Friday, Mr Robert Sheens, of Castlereagh, died in Nepean District Hospital on Saturday, at the age of 47 years. Deceased, who had been employed by Mr Ernest Field, Castlereagh, for the last 20 years, was at work as usual on Friday, though he complained of being unwell, stating that he had pains in his arms and chest. He came into Penrith on his bike on Friday night. Mr Dave Byrnes was with him part of the way home, but after that Mr Sheens was overcome with his illness and next morning was found on the roadside by Mr George Byrnes, when coming to work. He was taken to the residence of his brother, Mr Jim Sheens, where he resided. His condition not improving on Saturday morning, he was taken to Nepean District Hospital, where he passed away in the afternoon. Deceased was a son of the late Henry and Emma Sheens and was unmarried. He was born at Castlereagh and lived for years in the old home of the family. He was very well known in the district and highly esteemed. Brothers and sisters are: Arthur (Emu Plains), Jim (Castlereagh), Alan (Penrith), George (Penrith), Mrs Major Stanton (Sydney), and Mrs Willett (Lambridge). The funeral took place on Monday morning, in the Methodist Cemetery, Castlereagh, and was largely attended. The service was conducted by Rev. A. J. Cutler.7 |
