DEATH OF E. F. PEACOCK
ESTEEMED KATOOMBA RESIDENT
News of the decease of Mr. Ernest Field Peacock was received with very deep regret by numerous residents of the district, he having resided at Katoomba for a lengthy period. Death occurred in a private hospital at Pennant Hills, at the age of 68.
The late Mr. Peacock was a link with Katoomba's early development. As a foreman for the Public Works Department, he was associated with the construction of our water storage dams and sewerage extensions. He was keenly interested in sport, and acted as official umpire for the School of Arts Cricket Club for many years.
The prestige of the family name was added to by four daughters and three sons, all of whom enjoyed wide personal popularity. One of the sons, Ernest, died in May, 1920. Of the others, Herb, made a name for himself in local tennis circles. The daughters are Mrs. Ward (Ena), of Megalong, Mrs. Wilson (Belle) and Misses Alma and Margaret.
About .18 months ago the family removed to the metropolis.
A service was conducted in Wood Coffill's Chapel, Sydney, deceased being brought to Katoomba. for interment in the Methodist Cemetery. Rev. F. N. Biddle officiated at the graveside.
Sympathy is expressed for the wife and family.6
