This is the last Will
and testament of Thomas Mann of Compton Verney in the County of Warwick Yeoman made the Seventh day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fourteen first I will and direct all my just debts and funeral Expenses & the charges of proving this my will to be fully paid satisfied I give and devise direct and appoint all that my messuage or Tenement Yard Garden & premises with all appurts thereto belonging situate in the Parish of Harbury in the said County of Warwick late [illegible] in the occupation of Richard Gibbs & now of George Garrett unto my wife
Catherine Mann & her assigns for & during the term of her natural life and from & immediately after her decease I give devise direct & appoint the said messuage or Tenement Yard Garden & premises with their appurts unto to the use of my son William Mann his heirs & assigns for ever also I give devise direct appoint one undived [sic] moiety or equal half part of all that my other messuage or Tenement Garden premisies with all appurts thereto belonging situate in the Parish of Harbury aforesaid in the occupation of Thomas Cross & also of all that other messuage or Tenement [illegible] premises with all appurts thereunto belonging situate and being in the Parish of Harbury aforesaid now in the occupation of William Harwood unto the use of my son Charles Mann his heirs assigns for ever also I give devise direct and appoint the other or remaining undivided moiety or equal half part of the said messuages or Tenements land [illegible] and Premises with the appurts situate in the parish of
Harbury aforesaid in the occupation of the said Thomas Cross and William Harwood unto my said Wife Catherine Mann and my son Charles Mann their heirs until my son Frederick Mann shall attain his age of Twenty one years upon trust that they the said Catherine Mann and Charles Mann & the survivor them and her or his heirs do & shall receive & take the rents paid & profits of the said last mentioned moiety of the said messuages or Tenements Land [illegible] and premises and pay and append the same for and towards the Cloathing support maintenance and education of my said Son Frederick Mann until he shall attain his full age of twenty one years from immediately after he shall have attained that age I give devise direct and appoint the same last mentioned moiety or equal half part of the said two messuages or Tenements [illegible] and premises with the appurts unto & to the use of my said Son Frederick Mann his heirs assigns for ever also I give bequeath unto my son Thomas Mann the sum of one Guinea unto my three daughters Sarah Crawley Lucy Steel & Catherine Shelswell the sum of Five pounds each unto my son Robert Mann the sum of Two hundred pounds all which said several legacies I direct to be paid to the respective legatees within twelve calendar months after my decease also I give & bequeath unto my son William Mann the sum of Two hundred pounds and direct the same to be paid him when he attains the age of twenty one years and whereas I think it will be advantageous to my said Wife Catherine Mann & my said two Sons Charles Mann & Frederick Mann that they should continue together in the occupation of the Farm at Compton Verney belonging to the Right Nouble [sic] Lord Willoughby de Broke on which I now reside until my said Son Frederick Mann shall attain his full age of twenty one years if his Lordship shall prefer to permit them so to do and for such further or longer period as them my said Wife Catherine Mann & my said Sons Charles Mann & Frederick Mann shall agree to live together now I do for this purpose give and bequeath unto my said Wife Catherine Mann and my said Son Charles Mann all my household Goods & household Furniture plate linen China live & dead stock Cups Goods Chattels Effects monies securities for money & personal Estate whatsoever & wheresoever & of what nature kind or sort soever subject nevertheless to the payment of Debts other legacies given by this my will upon trust that they the said Catherine Mann & Charles Mann with the assistance of my said Son Frederick Mann shall & do manage use & occupy the said Farm at Compton Verney aforesaid until my said Son Frederick Mann shall attain his said age of twenty one years and for such further a longer period as they my said Wife Catherine Mann & my said Son Charles Mann & Frederick Mann shall agree to live together & my will is that the housekeeping Expenses of my Wife Catherine Mann and my said Sons Charles Mann & Frederick Mann and of their Cloathing and maintenance during the time they shall so reside together on my said Farm at Compton Verney of and likewise their necessary Costs & Expenses of Stocking managing Cultivating & occupying of the said Farm shall be borne & defrayed out of my said personal Estate & the profits arising from carrying on the Farming business and when my son Frederick Mann shall have obtained his age of twenty one years or as soon after that period as my said Wife Catherine Mann and my said two Sons Charles Mann & Frederick Mann shall wish to separate & not reside together I give & bequeath unto my said Wife Catherine Mann so much & such part of the household Furniture & linen as she shall elect & choose & which shall be deemed sufficient to furnish in a comfortable manner The house I have herein before devised to her for her life as aforesaid and I will and direct & do hereby give unto my said Wife full power & authority to will and dispose of the said household furniture & linen to such of our children as she shall think proper and in case of such separation as aforesaid and when the same shall take place I will & direct that my said Wife shall have & be entitled to one annuity or [illegible] yearly sum of Forty pounds for ensuring the term of her natural life and that the same shall be payable & paid to her by four even & equal quarterly payments on the twenty fifth day of March the twenty fourth day of June the twenty ninth day of September & the twenty first day of December in each year the first payment thereof to commence on such of the said days which shall first & next come after such separation as aforesaid and my will is that the said annuity shall be effectually secured to my said Wife out of my personal Estate or that the same shall be effectually secured to the satisfaction of my said Wife by my said Two sons Charles Mann & Frederick Mann or one of them after the payment of such annuity shall be secured as aforesaid will and direct that such of my household Furniture & linen as shall not be taken by my said Wife & also all my live & dead stock
Crops Goods Chattels Effects monies securities for money & personal Estate whatsoever & all the profits which shall arise or be made from continuing the occupation of my said Farm as aforesaid & all
the rest and residue of my personal Estate shall be divided between my said two sons Charles Mann & Frederick Mann share & share alike & I give bequeath the same to them accordingly to and for their own use & benefit & lastly I here by make constitute & appoint my said Wife Catherine Mann & my said two Sons Charles Mann & Frederick Mann Executrix & Execs of this my last Will & Testament & do hereby revoke all former & other Will & Wills by me at any time heretofore made & declare my last Will & Testament In Witness whereof I the said Testor Thomas Mann have to this my last Will and Testament written & contained on four sheets of paper to the [illegible] first sheet thereof have set my hand and to this the last sheet thereof I have set my hand & seal the day & year first before written Tho Mann Signed sealed published and declared by the said Testor Thomas Mann as & for his last Will & Testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence & in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as Witness thereto H S Greenway Wm Wright Thos Garrett

Proved at London 15 June 1815 before the Judge by the oath of Catherine Mann Widow the relict & one of the Execs to whom admons was granted being sworn by Comon to admr [illegible] to Charles Mann & Frederick Mann the sons & other Execs when they or either of them shall attain twenty one years4
