PRIVATE BERNARD KEOGH.
The many friends of Private Bernard (Bert) Keogh, AIF, will regret to learn of his death in a military hospital in Brisbane and who was accorded a military funeral on Wednesday. Deceased, who for several years was engaged in important port constructional work, was amongst the early drafts to enlist from Mackay in the AIF. Having an amiable disposition he was popular with all who had made his acquaintance. He is survived by his widow (formerly Miss Edith Zahmel, a member of a pioneering family who opened up country in the Mackay district in the very early stages of its development) one son Raymond, who is serving in a unit as a wireless artificer; and two daughters, Elvie and Iris who, reside with their mother in Evans-street. Deceased's twin brother, Sergeant Vlnce Keogh AIF, who also is well known in Mackay, is stationed in the south; his father and his brother (Cecil) reside at Babinda, and another brother (William) is in Sydney. Deceased's widow has had the distressing experience of losing her mother, brother, and husband in the last 12 months.6
